Newtown NSW 2042

Newtown is in Sydney’s inner west, located approximately four kilometres south-west of the Sydney central business district. King Street is the main street of Newtown and centre of commercial and entertainment activity. The street follows the spine of a long ridge that rises up near Sydney University and extends to the south, becoming the Princes Highway at its southern end.

The quickest way to get there is by train from Town Hall station, which takes around 10 minutes. Buses also run from Hyde Park on Elizabeth Street to Newtown and take approximately 30 minutes.

The inner west suburb of Newtown is arguably Sydney’s most eclectic neighbourhood. By day, the free-spirited nature of its thrift shops, cafés and galleries prevail, while after-hours hordes of students revel in its diverse nightlife – from indie music to avant-garde cinema and bars.

The beating cultural heart of this neighbourhood is the Enmore Theatre, where some of the best musicians and comedians perform.
